Specialist Dyslexia Assessor and Teacher

Welcome to Dyslexia Devon. Louise Stevens, founder of Dyslexia Devon, is a dyslexia assessor and teacher offering face to face diagnostic assessments and lessons in the Exeter area. Louise is a fully qualified with a PGCE, PG Cert (SpLD Dyslexia), AMDA, APC and enhanced DBS. After graduating from UCL in 1997 Louise trained at the UCL Institute of Education for her Primary PGCE. She then worked as a class teacher and Learning Success teacher in a number of schools in West and South London, including The Fox Primary School in Notting Hill Gate, James Allen’s Girls School in Dulwich, and Ravenscourt Preparatory School in Chiswick.

Following a move to Devon and working in a number of local primary schools, Louise embarked on Masters level training as a dyslexia assessor and teacher with Edge Hill University. She holds both AMDA and an APC with the British Dyslexia Association and is a member of PATOSS. The APC is a recognised gold standard for specialist teachers and assessors, and ensures that full diagnostic dyslexia assessments and reports are in accordance with the requirements set by the SpLD Assessment Standards Committee (SASC).

Louise has an enhanced DBS and is level 3 safeguarding trained. She is currently a specialist teacher in the Learning Success Department at St Peter’s Preparatory School, Devon.
